WELCOME TO CHILDREN'S CHOICE

When we think of Children in need, the picture of children from third world countries suddenly pops in our mind, yet we forget about the Children in need in our own backyard. Children are "simply" Children no matter where they come from. Children that have very little or almost nothing because of the poverty of their families, don't always understand why some children have a lot and they don't.

The children we deal with come from different environments. Some have been sexually abused, beaten, some suffering from terminal diseases such as cancer, leukemia, and AIDs. Most of these children come from very low-income households. This is the reason why we work with the “Los Angeles County Children’s hospital”, though they have one of the most knowledgeable, experienced and caring staff, their main purpose is to serve those patients coming from homes with very low incomes: the poorest of poor, those without insurance, and can’t afford private hospitals, these children have nothing.

Here at Children's Choice, we recognize the innocence of the children and how giving so little can make so many of them happy, we realize how hard it is on a child being hospitalized, especially during the holiday season; with just a little effort a lot can be accomplished. It takes so little to make a child feel good about themselves, a toy or several toys at Christmas and the holidays tells that child that someone cares about them, and that in itself can do wonders for their self esteem, not to mention bring a little bit of happiness into their world.

I truly believe that we have to return the favor of having a good life, one we have been blessed with, this is our way of showing our appreciation giving back, or even paying forward, making a difference, showing those that have so little, that someone cares, making the world a better place: One smile at a time.

So our mission is to bring a little bit of happiness to as many children as we humanly can. Remember, the children are our seeds of the future; they are our tomorrow.

True Generosity:

Growing up as a child, our household didn’t have much money, we were a family of eight with only a mother to raise us, and money was scarce. Yet, the woman we called “Mom” taught us the value of being generous.

It would take “Mom” almost a year to save merely a hundred dollars, just to turn around every year on Christmas to give it out. Close to Christmas, we would take several buses to get to town, where she would hand the hundred dollars out in five-dollar increments, giving out all the money that took her so long to save.

I, as a child, didn’t understand why, so I would ask her: Mom, why do you hand out the money you saved? , Her answer was: My son we have to help the poor, so I would again ask: Mom, aren't we poor?

She would smile and answer: Yes; yet there are so many people that are way less fortunate than we are. I may have not understood the meaning then, but I definitely understand that now.

Karma:

It is well known that when you genuinely give from the heart and don’t expect anything in return, you get paid back ten fold, we call this: Karma.

So, when you don't do any good deeds for anyone, how can you expect good Karma to come back to you?

I am always amazed hearing someone saying: Nothing good ever happens to me! I usually ask that person: What have you done for anyone other than yourself lately? And most of the time, I can guess the answer pretty accurately, if the person is honest, the answer would be: Nothing. usually, these people are miserable and unhappy.

Now here how we can use your help

We are a small organization, so far depending on our own efforts and our own means and money. We know we can reach more children and achieve more goals. But, we can' t do it alone. We need your help:
